Reflection on Micah 6:1-8

Scripture
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Observation
the Lord invites Israel to lay out their case against him. To be taken to court by God is a very dangerous place.

He reminds the people that He brought them out of Egypt, sent Moses, Aaron and Miriam to lead them and protected them through the desert.

Micah responds by rhetorically asking what can we bring to God? The answer is nothing! He owns it all anyway.

The only offering worthy of God is a life of righteousness, serving God in all we do.

Application
Following God lays on us the serious responsibility of living in his ways. Our faith must come out in actions.

We are to do the right thing, live lives of humble righteousness, showing mercy to all, and at all times living in humility with God.

Prayer
Father you make big demands of your people. I thank you that you also give us grace to live your way. Amen.
